After setting up my site the next thing I did was looking for it on Google. I could not find my site even when I typed the entire URL of my site so I thought that maybe since it is a new site it will take some time to appear in the search results. After a couple of days later I still could not find my site on Google and I start panicing. Checked with my Genius blogger friend and he gave me a weird theory that Google puts all new sites in a Sand Box (Hypothetically some sort of filtration device) because there are thousands of sites being loaded everyday and it can take up to three months to get a site Indexed on Google search. Interesting theory, however lucky I didn’t believe his story( not all of it).
If you are in no hurry to create a site or writing your own blog and don’t care driving traffic to your site then you can certainly wait for Google to take their time and Index your site but if you want to use your site for business purposes then you definitely need your site to be visible to the rest of the world as quickly as possible on Google search.
Based on my own extensive research I have discovered some methods on how to get a new site indexed by Google quickly.
Privacy Settings: If you are using WordPress make sure you tick the correct Privacy settings.
Submit URL: Many people are not aware that Google has an option which allows you to submit your website to their List of new URL database. This tool adds any new website to their collection of Indexed websites. Below I have added some screenshots to show the process on how to submit your site to Google.
Social Sites: If you have a profile on a Social networking site like Facebook or Myspace, then adding a link of your site to your profile can help generate traffic and get noticed by search engines.
Upload a link: If you know people who already have an established website you can request them to put a link of your site on their website. An existing site usually gets visited by search engine crawlers regularly. This can also help get your site indexed by Google faster.
Leave Comments: Find a similar blog to yours and leave some creative comments on their post and put your site URL as a signature. If these blogs are getting Google crawlers regularly this will also generate some traffic to your site. Importantly make sure your comments don’t look like spam and provide useful comments that add value.
Unique Content: Make sure your site has unique contents. If you don’t have any contents on your site Google won’t have anything to Index and people will stop visiting your site as well.
If you follow these Tips you will definitely be on your way to having your site indexed by Google more quickly. For me it took only a day.
